The Boulder Bookstore is a beloved independent bookstore located in the heart of downtown Boulder

It has been a community hub for over 45 years, offering a wide selection of books, gifts, and events that have made it a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike.

One of the most distinctive features of the Boulder Bookstore is its vast selection of books. The store spans three floors and over 20,000 square feet, housing more than 100,000 titles. From the latest bestsellers to obscure academic tomes, the bookstore has something for everyone. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about books and are always willing to help customers find exactly what they’re looking for.

In addition to books, the Boulder Bookstore also sells a variety of unique gifts and accessories. The store features an extensive collection of journals, stationery, and writing supplies, as well as handmade jewelry, pottery, and other locally made items. The selection of gifts changes frequently, so there is always something new to discover.

The Boulder Bookstore is also known for its events. The store hosts over 200 author events each year, ranging from readings and book signings to panel discussions and book clubs. Many of these events are free and open to the public, making the bookstore a cultural hub for the community. Some of the notable authors who have visited the bookstore in recent years include Barack Obama, Toni Morrison, Stephen King, and Margaret Atwood.

The bookstore is more than just a place to buy books and gifts—it’s a community gathering space. The store has a cozy café where customers can grab a cup of coffee or a snack and settle in with a book. There are also plenty of comfortable chairs and couches throughout the store where customers can read and relax. The bookstore even has its own resident cat, Cleo, who roams the store and greets customers.

The Boulder Bookstore is a testament to the enduring power of independent bookstores. Despite the rise of online booksellers and chain bookstores, the Boulder Bookstore has remained a thriving cultural institution, thanks in large part to its dedicated staff, passionate customers, and commitment to the community. If you’re ever in Boulder, be sure to stop by and experience the magic for yourself.
