Local Boulder drug store changes again.

Many years ago a locally owned drug store, Boulder Drug lived on the corner of 17th and pearl. It was a cool spot and even had a really unique hand painted map of Colorado on the outside wall on the east side along 17th. Then it became part of the Pharmaca chain, and now change is imminent again.

Perhaps another victim of 2020, the 17th and Pearl location of Pharmaca permanently closed the fall of 2020. This used to be a locally owned drug store which many people loved and relied on for so many decades.

Now that Pharmaca closed down this location, the building came up for sale and recently was sold. Recent estimates indicate that the property has a value of approximately $2 million dollars, and the word on the street is that the 3300 square foot property will continue to be a retail property.

It's encouraging to hear that it won't be razed to make way for another forty foot tall mixed use building that has been so common in downtown Boulder over the years.

The building was purchased by Emerald Real Estate which is a local Boulder-based company which oversees multiple retail, office and warehouse properties in Boulder, as well as Lafayette and even Aurora.

Currently the building is being marketed for lease.
