With the closing of the warm water therapy pool and other buildings which were part of Boulder Community (the former Mercy Hospital) Hospital's facility at 4th and Mapleton, Boulder has been without a warm water pool for years.
The new warm water therapy pool is at the Boulder YMCA on Mapleton. Thanks to the YMCA, who converted one of their pools for warm water, the therapy pool has been a big hit since early October when it opened.
Actually, when Boulder Community Health (formerly Boulder Community Hospital) decided to stop operating the warm water therapy pool at the Mapleton Center, the Boulder YMCA stepped in to operate that pool.
Due to many mechanical issues and financial troubles to keep the pool open, the YMCA bailed on that and eventually the facility was torn down several years ago.
The pool is beneficial to people suffering from many issues including pain, joint stress, and promoting relaxation.
The pool temperature averages between 90 and 92 degrees.
