RTD Says FasTracks Still Coming To Northwest Corridor

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) recommitted to completing the train service to Boulder from Denver, called the Northwest Rail segment. It's been years and years of waiting to see what will really happen. The line scheduled for service to Arvada and Wheat Ridge (termination on that line is at about Ward Road) was due to open a couple years ago, and it just finally opened at the end of April.

Frankly I'm not holding my breath waiting to see when the B Line is completed. RTD claims they may implement some type of interim service.

Excuses for delays on the B Line include requirements for new technology, signal systems, and commuter rail cars. More setbacks were due to higher costs in right-of-way acquisitions, a decision that all but one train be electric rather than diesel and increases in construction material costs.

It's been more than ten years since voters approved special taxes to fund the projects, and we've been paying all this time with no real progress, and definitely no train to ride.
