The Nederland Board of Trustees recently decided to kill the program, even though construction had already begun.
The board felt that there wasn't going to be enough money to complete the project, and there wasn't enough volunteer commitment to continue.
The greenhouse was slated to be on the shore of Barker Reservoir, on the Jeff Guercio Memorial Ball Field.
Apparently the terms of the grant for funding the project required that the work be finished this fall.
