Back in the 1970's and 1980's many folks skipped over Eldora to brave the drive to Summit County, Vail and Aspen were famous destinations... not to mention Keystone, Steamboat and Copper Mountain. And of course the ski train to Winter Park.
Now with the massive influx of people into our area, the traffic on I-70 is almost unbearable on a ski weekend. Many years ago it seemed necessary for Eldora to advertise throughout the year. Now of course it's a different matter. Eldora has grown so much in a good way with new lifts, new runs and new facilities that it's a destination in and of itself.
Rates are competitive and the drive from Boulder on a decent day is about thirty minutes. I remember the old ads: "Friends Don't Let Friends Drive I-70". That's more on point than it ever was, the only difference... everyone knows now.
