Bike Trails To Connect In Boulder

Years ago I lived in the Gunbarrel area out by IBM and Celestial Seasonings. We’d often ride bikes to downtown using a wonderful trail system.

The only part that was unpleasant was when we had to find our way along Spine Road and then even a bit more disconcerting was the short stretch along Jay road towards the diagonal highway until we connected with what was then called the Cottonwood Trail. (now the Lobo Trail)

Now that’s all about to change.

Plans are in the works to connect the Cottonwood Trail which hits Jay Road from the south, to the LoBo Trail which is part of a 12 mile long system running through Gunbarrel, Niwot, and open space land.

This change will potentially include a multi-use paths between the Longmont to Boulder path with LoBo and Cottonwood. Once the gaps close, riders won’t have to compete for space with motor vehicles.

While there’s no timeline mentioned for completion of the improvements, the county apparently has a deadline for themselves to hopefully complete the planning phase of the project by this fall.

I’d seriously enjoy having the opportunity to talk to you about your plans if you’re moving, or if you know someone who is considering a move, and needs some straight answers.
