Local wildlife officials have said that the bear activity in Boulder is up this year. Mostly in south Boulder, but also out in east Boulder.
Some have said there's been almost a dozen sightings of bears in Boulder this spring / summer. One large male bear was spotted near Broadway and Norwood.
A bear was also spotted recently up on the CU campus recently near a dumpster. I think it sounds like it's time for more people to consider bear resistant trash bins. Even though they're only required west of Broadway, apparently it's not enough anymore as bears journey farther eastward in our community.
