100 Foot Tower Approved In Boulder

The proposed 100-foot tower is near the intersection of Arapahoe Road and Westview Drive. It would be built on land that is in the county, but it's owned by the city. The county told staff in September to take a look at alternative options.

Voters in 2017 approved a $6 million upgrade to the city's Land Mobile Radio infrastructure in a project to replace existing infrastructure with four towers placed around the city. Two of the towers already exist and the third has been approved.

County staff expressed concern in a memo that the city had not provided enough specific information in response to the commissioners' request, but they wrote that land use criteria had been met and recommended various conditions if the commissioners approved the project, including a 100-foot height requirement, with additional height to be considered through a review process.
